A natural, unforced confidence is the essential ingredient in all healthy relationships and all inner and outer achievement. In life few things are certain but one thing I do know for sure that you can tap into the source of natural self-confidence.
When you do, you’ll gain the ability to act and speak without knowing for sure what will happen next, which is a powerful place to live from and to communicate from.
If you don’t value yourself, it’s only because deep inside you’ve been believing negative, self-limiting, and probably self-torturing thoughts about yourself and your abilities.
For those who identify themselves with these depressing thoughts of lack and limitation, life can sometimes feel like hell on Earth. They will feel like the victim of their environment, work and obligations. They’ll attract relationships with people who are not emotionally available and who may even abuse them.
Fortunately, there is a wonderful alternative …
True self-confidence enhances many areas of life
- Creating joyful intimate relationships
- Resolving social anxiety
- Making new friends
- Dating
- Speaking in public with easeful presence
- Productive professional networking
- Tackling a new creative project
- Starting a business
- Changing career
- and so on …
The foundation of true confidence is a deep inner certainty that manifests as an unshakeable feeling of safety and security.
Living from this foundation you’ll be able to confidently go out into the world and enjoy being the person you would most deeply love to be. You’ll have the confidence to relax and simply be your natural self.
Many people live with a nagging unease that their sense of self could collapse at any moment. This anxiousness can be so stressful it makes some people physically ill. The underlying stress of insecurity means they gain only limited joy from being alive. And what small satisfaction they do get, they enjoy for only a short time before it dissipates.
An undeniable reality is that every-thing changes, including any confidence we may derive from the experiences and things of the external world. This is also true of our thoughts, which, like the weather, are constantly changing.
The fact is we can only feel truly safe, secure and confident when we rest attention in the unchanging silence that lives as our mutual Heart-essence, who and what we truly are.
The inner silence of your Heart-essence
- never changes
- never feels anxious
- never lacks confidence
Some people believe that confidence comes from mental strength, from having a powerful “self-image”. They try to get their way through the forcefulness or charm of their personality. But the price is always, eventually, loneliness and failed relationships.
The truth is, if we attempt to build our confidence on mental foundations it’s like building castles made of sand. This is because our minds, like everything in life, always change. And inevitably the ocean will wash away our castles, including our mind castles, and leave us with nothing.
The most egoically strong person is nowhere near as powerful and confident as someone who lives from non-judgemental acceptance of what is, from the “un-thought” confidence that arises spontaneously from the inner silence of our Heart-essence.
The reality is that true self-confidence and high self-respect are independent of our possessions, money, who we are in relationship with, or what our body looks like. True self-confidence emerges simply from the feeling of being who and what we truly are.
There are no words that any of us can use to tell another who we are when we awaken to reality. Perhaps a smile, a gentle touch, a look of loving acceptance, a kind deed given without thought of reward, perhaps these are all that anyone will ever know of our awakening …
